Scourges of Lolth

The word of Lolth is law to the drow, and she speaks through her priestesses. Female drow scheme, betray, and murder their way to power, and the most certain route is through service to the Spider Queen. All are expected to honor Lolth, but only those priestesses who publicly gain her favor can rise above their political rivals. This article details two character themes you can use when playing a member of Lolthâ??s clergy.

The word of Lolth is law to the drow,

Way to get it wrong in the very first sentence. The Drow are a mainly Chaotic Evil bunch more likely to twist said word to rationalize their deeds than to view following it as an end in itself, and their very first appearance revolved around a faction that had turned away from Lolth in favour of the Elder Elemental God, a Lovecraftian entity (which various WotC materials since 3E have mistakenly identified with Tharizdun).

Well, from what I've read, the word of Lolth is law to the Drow. Of course, "laws" to the Drow are more like guidelines than actual rules. Despite having codes handed down by Lolth the drow do their best to cheat them and bend them, and get around them. Which is exactly what Lolth wants. The Drow, much like real world villains, have a veneer of grand civilization to try and hide the fact that at base value they do things that would make the most primitive barbarians shutter in horror.

As for Elder Elemental Eye and Tharzidun... huh. Never knew that.
