Same here - I only use the standard ones. I'd forgotten what a big deal screensavers were a dozen or so years ago, but I never hear anything about them now (and almost never see one in action - I'm either working or its off!)
The only screen saver I use is the power-saving option. I doubt I could 'save' the screen in a better way than to have it displaying nothing (after about half an hour of inactivity). . .
But anyway, making your own is the way to go. Maybe you could give that a try?
