True. Of course, thanks to the metamagic rod description in the DMG we know that Sorcerer really means any spontaneous caster.

I think he means that you can choose where to position the 4 10-ft circles, which helps protect your party from being caught in the crossfire. For example, you can use a sculpted glitterdust to simultaneously blind 4 ogres without fear of accidentally hitting your fighter who happens to be surrounded by them, unlike say, a widened glitterdust, which is much less discerning in who it affects.

That's exactly what I meant. It makes the spell 4 times the size compared to the normal 10ft spread but that doesn't mean you have to keep all the 10ft spreads together. You can place them so as to avoid your allies, or to block in enemies, etc.,

I didn't mean that Sculpt Spell could me added spontaneously. You still need to prepare spells as metamagic spells.
