It's pretty good at +1 level adjustment. It can make spells with ridiculously large areas much more useful (Reality Maelstrom, Sunburst). Also you can sculpt into 4 10 ft cubes for precision targeting.
I remember reading that feat... and not giving it a second thought... now that someone pointed it out in another thread... I am pretty impressed.
Simple spells like Glitter Dust and Grease can get huge areas with this ! 4 x 10' cubes is 12 squares not bad. Quadruples grease area ! Fireballs can be made to fit more snugly into battle field requirments... this is a sorcerors feat for sure.
Any other spells with neat applications ? Any restrictions on specific spell areas ? Burst or spread ?
Yeah... Sculpted Burning Hands is fantastic... Personally, I like Fireball spread... Fantastic for Sorcerers ( and Evokers, but Wizards are generally better off not using Metamagic; just be an Archmage )...
20' Radius Spread of 4d4 damage (average 10) is pretty sweet... I once played a CE Halfling Sorcerer who would do this into town squares of Humans ... He was about as evil and chaotic as they come...
For non-psychotic/genocidal PCs, use it on Orcs and other creatures who often attack en masse... 10 damage is enough to kill many low CR creatures, and it helps wounding them at higher levels...
