Sean K Reynolds for Forgotten Realms

they put out some stupid stuff while he was there, the web stuff is kinda scatter shot sometimes. thats why it is free.
I could care less if SKR is back in the FR line, I would like to see Steven Schend or Eric Boyd. By far the best FR books came from the time that they were working on them. Fluffy and all.

I'm not signing that - I couldn't care less if SKR ever wrote another FR product again. (You said it, Paragon!)

Now, if the petition were for Steven Schend, Eric Boyd, and Ed Greenwood - I'd be signing that.

(And I wouldn't worry what appears on the WotC site when pertaining to FR - ever since they started putting those "FR related" - and I use that phrase loosely - articles there a couple of years ago, there's been a lot of garbage. Just worry about what shows up in printed FR products.)

SKR is a fine writer, and more FR produts by him would be welcome.

However...it's silly to think that the Realms are going off the rails just because you don't like a free web product.

Complaints based on recent FR products would be more meaningful. But the Spider Queen adventure seems to have been well-received, and I, at least, think Races of Faerun is great, too.

WotC is moving the Realms towards more player-oriented products. That's no secret. Magic of Faerun apparently greatly outsold Lords of Darkness. Even the regional books are moving in that direction --- Unapproachable East will have far more crunch than Silver Marches, and there may be a FR Player's Guide on the way.

Personally, I like this. I like the products so far. I like that more people are exploring the Realms. I like that WotC will continue to produce FR products.

As has already been pointed out, time travel has always had it place in the Realms. Putting that aside, this one little article hardly signifies a major shift, does it? I suppose anything on the WotC website is "canon", but as with any element of a RPG world, you aren't being forced to integrate it into your campaign.

Since this time portal isn't in print form, I'd wager that you can just ignore it, confident that it is extremely unlikely that any future FR product will even make reference to its existance.

I don't see it happening.

SKR made a wonderful offer to point out all the changes in 3.5's SRD, perhaps with blue print :D on his website. This is a service to the community, and perfectly legal. I also think he will do well at Malhavoc - he can write material there without worrying about R&D :)

I don't really know what to fill in here, other than to say see Sean's statement below.

[Edit: Sean's clarification.]

I tend to agree with (Psi)SeveredHead on this one. Would Sean even want to go back to writing FR for WotC? Isn't this a grand time for him to capitalize on his name recognition and develop some ideas for himself? I would think the profit potential working for himself or under the Malhavoc banner would be much better than being tied to WotC. Mr. K. Reynolds is a pretty good game designer and I'd like to see what he can do outside of FR since I'm not a big FR fan anyway. Not because it's a bad setting, but more because I dislike the metaplot and player expectations hinged upon novels. At any rate, best of luck Sean, and I'd love to hear your opinion on this.

Eric Boyd and Ed Greenwood are still involved unlike sean.

And even if wizards doesnt get him to freelance...does it really hurt making this petition any?

they claim to value the input of fans and thats what 3.5 is all about.

I went ahead I signed it. SKR is way cool.

If WoTC even wanted Sean back would he even want to go back? I don't think I would but....

First off Sean is not as involved, because he does not wish to put himself in the same bad situations involving Wotc staff with whom his relations are strained and not under the best of terms.Second of all In My Opinion Sean is a fantastic designer and all around great guy! Third of all,Sean would not go back if they asked him,and this is from the horses mouth. This petiton was originally started by emancipator over on sean's boards.Reynolds responded by saying there was no chance he will go back ,as after ghostwalk is published ,he will be happy to be done with Wotc other than the web enhancements. So although I signed the original petition,in feeble hope, pretty much forget it guys I don't think it will happen unless something dramatic happens.

But hey, wouldn't it be great if the petition got so many sigs that wotc begged sean to come back just so he could turn them down?
That would be poetic justice!

he wouldnt actually, he's to upset at how the screwed him over.
and he's right.......but if everything was smothed over who knows?

One cant deny that his work on FR was great.

Um, would it make a difference if Sean didn't WANT to be involved?

I can't speak for him, but I thought I recalled on the Malhavoc Press boards that Sean was planning a move to California anyway before his WotC relationship was terminated. I recall after that particular layoff a statement to the effect of, "In the case of people like Sean, it was easier, because management knew he had planned to leave in x number of months anyway."

He can correct me if I'm wrong of course, but I believe his departure from WotC was planned beforehand.
