Searchable Art Gallery Index

Is there a master index of all the images available in the Wizards of the Coast Art Gallery files? When I want to find a specific image, I have to open the file for each individual issue of Dragon/Dungeon magazine. The WOTC search tool doesn't appear to index the images in the Art Gallery files. Neither does Google because the files are behind the DDI paywall. I would like to just search an index that tells me what Dungeon/Dragon issue contains the image and then I can just open the one file from the Art Gallery Archive for that issue. Am I'm missing something?

It would be quite useful for WotC to put together an indexing system for DDI users to access for as many items as possible. Perhaps building it into one of the existing tools.

use google:

site:Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official Home Page and then select the image search

that will get you close.

I don't see the image search you are referring to. Can you describe where it is located on the page?

If you are referring to the search text box in the upper right hand corner, that doesn't index images inside of Art Gallery zip files. It's just a custom google search tool.

Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official Home Page - Archive

I want to search on images located at the link above. If you look at the thumbnails, those just use numeric names that aren't descriptive for searching.

No, he's saying you should use the search parameter 'site' in Google to specifically search Wizards of the Coast's IP address to find all images hosted by them.

This has it's own problems, though, as most of the images on their site have naming conventions that have nothing to do with what they're a picture of and (I don't think) Google uses the embedded data in image searches (which would also require Wizards to label their images according to their content anyway).

I, for one, would consider such a feature to be a MASSIVE boon. I place a fair deal of importance on a character's picture. Having no artistic talent myself, I'm always struggling to find just the right picture for my character. I have one character that I've played off and on for fifteen years and I STILL haven't found a decent picture for him.

In fact, if this was part of a DDI subscription, maybe incorporated into the Compendium search engine, I'd consider maintaining a subscription solely for that benefit alone.
