Searching for Rules on Dragon's Riders

Vlos

First Post
I am creating a new dragon character and was looking to make a silver Dragon Paladin. I am trying to talk to the GM to allow me to take a rider as a replacement to the mount that a paladin would normally get.

I recall seeing some rules somewhere that had Dragon PC's where they took familiars as riders. Or something similar?

Anyone recall where this reference is?

Thanks
Vlos

PS: It may be a 2nd Ed reference (but atleast a place to start).

Is silver dragon knight a class/PrC? The most excellent 3E Draconomicon has a 5-level Dragonrider PrC, a 10-level Platinum Knight PrC (for good warriors/divine casters), a Dragon Cohort feat, and a muchness of other coolness. Buy it if at all possible, especially since it looks like you're in a dragon-heavy campaign.

Smack me in the head for a fool. I didn't realize that you were talking about a dragon character! Make sure the rider has Mounted Combat maxed w/ many Ride skill boosting feats and items so he can negate attacks for you, and remember that you can't fly with a load greater than Light.

Yes, I am playing a Silver Dragon.

I am thinking Paladin, and rather than gaining a mount I would gain a rider. There were rules somewhere for this, but can't find them.
