My name is John McCarty, and I'm organizing a gameday in Sedalia, MO at Gamer's Pair-a-dice. I'd like to know what ENWorlders think the best name is. Vote for any you like.

Wait - there are actually gamers in Sedalia, MO?

You should have it somewhere in the KC metro area. I think you'd get a much bigger turnout of folks. What kind of attendance do you expect to see in Sedalia?

What kind of game day is this?

I voted for the direct and simple name. Remember, Creative Mountain Games is happy to support your (and any) gameday. Once the day has come and the games have been played, anyone who has run a game can simple email me, include a link to the thread of the gameday with some post in the thread that verifies they actually ran the game (perhaps one where they thank the players and hosts). CMG will be happy to give them a prize of some type from among our products.

Good luck on your gameday! :)

You'd be surprised. There are quite a few gamers in that area. Warrensburg isn't too far away and there's a healthy gamer pool at CMSU. I doubt it would rival KC, but it could have a nice turn-out. If I still lived in either Marshall or Warrensburg, I'd be there.

It is an RPGA gameday. I hope to run two slots, each with one mod of Living Greyhawk and one of Xen'drik Expeditions.

Thank you for the advice but my goal is not to give KC yet another gameday, but to make one that is more local to myself in Clinton, MO. There is Phil Thompson's gameday in Warrensburg, but Mr. Thompson will not permit my 8 year old son to play. He's never seen my son, nor have we attended his event ever, he doesn't feel it's "appropriate" yet is happy to refer me to other gamedays. Further, incredibly ill behaved middle school children ARE permitted, but my well-behaved and thoughtful son is not. Right.

So, deprived of the only gameday within easy driving distance of Clinton, I go to Sedalia with it's huge play space, well-stocked shelves, and friendly owner (God bless you, Shawn) to create a new gameday. A gameday that will shine as a jewel in the local RPGA scene (full rasberries in Mr. Thompson's direction.) Further, neighboring Columbia hasn't seen any RPGA action I know of in at least two years.

The early responses are interesting. Some I thought would do well haven't. Nothing is leaping ahead of the pack, although Pair-a-dice Lost is an early favorite.

Thank you!

What a terrific idea! This will definately help getting judges for the gameday. It's really cool you do this and I appreciate it. Can I forward this post to several lists and boards?

Please feel free to do so. Thanks!

I think there's already a Rock Con in Rockford, IL, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Personally, I like names with a little flair + some connection to the location, but also a little cryptic. How about:

Dead Senator Con (in 2000, Missouri elected the deceased Mel Carnahan to the U.S. Senate)
Big Mo Con (after the battleship U.S.S. Missouri)
Katy Con (after the Missouri-Kansas railroad line)
Rag Con (after ragtime music)
Fun Shine Con (after this year's Missouri State Fair slogan, "Let the Fun Shine")

OK, I'll stop being silly. I voted for Sedaliapalooza--because it is fun to say. I tried it. :)

Good luck with your Gameday!

How about Mel CONahan? Katy Con is actually very appropriate, as we are in the area for it (in fact, the famous Katy trail starts about a 1/4 mile from my front door.)

I could also do "Show Me Con", as we are the show me state. Which is weird, because there are a lot of things locals DON'T want to see, or hear, or taste. "New" and "change" can be bad words here.
