Frequently Asked Questions
  • Why isn't my favourite game nominated? Did you nominate it?
  • Why isn't my nomination on the list? Check the nomination thread. If you made a valid nomination (name, link) and it's not in the poll, let me know ASAP so I can add it. The most common reasons for a game's nomination being invalid is because it's already available. Check DTRPG and the publisher's own website and make sure you can't already buy it there.
  • Did I make a mistake? Almost certainly. If you spot a game on the list which doesn't qualify (usually because it's already available!) let me know so I can remove it.
  • How does a game qualify? It must have been nominated by you in the nomination thread with a valid formatted nomination, it must be a standalone tabletop RPG (not a setting, adventure, supplement, etc.), and it's projected release date to the general public (not just Kickstarter backers) should be in 2025.

And another vote for Stonetop. Looking forward to the actual release, going through the prerelease material and chatting on the Stonetop Discord server has only increased my interest. :giggle:
Seems like a number of people here are playing Stonetop already. Is it not available for any kind of general release?

As an FYI to those waiting on PotA or Coriolis...
Coriolis backer alpha hit sunday or monday.
POTA hit Tuesday Night Pacific Time, but only the corebook backer version.
It's pretty. If you've played any WEG D6 system games (including their Star Wars), it's going to be real familiar. Tec is gone, Willpower replaces it, each att only gets 6 skills... and you don't add skill to att until roll time. The writing assumes you're an Ape City Citizen, and the rules have had a go-over by a theocrat...

Neither are available to the general public yet.

Hm, I'm wondering whether Urban Shadows: 2nd Edition qualifies, as I got the actual books etc. from the Kickstarter over here on the table. Or is it about general availability in shops?
Same on US2e - it looks good. But it's still eligible to be an anticipated game for 2025, from the Nom thread:
It must be due out to the general public in 2025. The important date is the date the general public can purchase the book. That's not Kickstarter fulfillment dates or pre-orders.

1. Astroprisma

I don't actually remember how I found this one (maybe a Kickstarter suggestion when I was backing something else), but I really like the aesthetic, and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

2. Ars Magica Definitive Edition

Another game I backed. This game has been on my radar for a while, but for some reason I never pulled the trigger. I'm a sucker for collector's editions, though, so I'll finally get to see what this game is all about.

3. Starfinder 2E

I never picked up the 1st edition because I heard it was closer to Pathfinder 1E in terms of structure, and I've had my fill of 3E-ish rulesets, and also because what I've heard of the featured game world didn't really interest me. I'm not 100% sure I'll buy this, but the fact that I'm as interested as I am in how it turns out definitely qualifies it as "anticipated." Honestly, I'm mostly interested a good space fantasy ruleset to transport the Dragon Star setting to.

Honorable mention to some other games I backed that I'm also looking forward to:
Ashes Without Number
Cairn 2E
Curseborne
Dolmenwood
Siege Perilous

Not yet. Play test files were made available to backers and are continuously updated, but they are not complete yet. It does look like the chance for a release in 2025 is not too bad, though.
A part of me suspects that it will actually be released in 2026. Even if the writing is finished this year, which it likely will be, then it becomes an additional matter of getting the books created and shipped to backers. That's a common area of hiccups, problems, and delays.
