What is that truck model, anyway?

The article just said it was a Peterbilt - but looking at their web page, I'd say it looks closest to this one, Model 379:

Though perhaps a different model year?

Probably true. The idea of the transfomers being --well, giant sentient robots that can change from a humanoid form to a truck is something that I probably won't ever be able to take seriously. I mean; have you ever seen a truck? The internal configuration, etc.? Being able to mimic the general shape I can see, but to actually be a truck?
.
Technically, in most of the sources, they're only disguised as the vehicle. Subtle difference. If you popped the hood (Again, depending on the source), you'd see parts that would definitely seem out of place on a normal vehicle. They basically are just mimicing the external shape.

Just be glad they arent dragging the Pretenders out of limbo.

I dont understand why people are upset about the Transformers changing. When the Autobots woke up, the ship went out and found contemporary vehicles to model them after. It would make absolutely no sense for them to be old 80s vehicles just because some people have nostalgia over a cartoon from 20 years ago.

Well, Peterbilt trucks haven't changed much to this day.

In fact, the model 320 is similar to the 80's model, and that would have been an appropriate model for Optimus Prime.

Uh... Not really, since that's actually not an 18-wheeler. If you'll look at the image gallery, you'll notice two out of the three images show it in this role...

Not sure that's what you want for OP. ;)

The problem with fanatics is that common sense is in short supply.
The 80's cartoon showed them in one particular way, and thus they should always be shown in one particular way. No, it doesnt make sense, but its how their thought processes go.

I think there's also a shade of 'Look how superior I am to you' in there too. I am the TRUE fan because I stick to the original, not like you FALSE fans who will take the imitators!

I hope they find a way to stick Xhibit (from "Pimp my Ride") in a cameo. :) I think I'd enjoy a scene with him going on and on about how they're going to transform an old beat-up car into something special, and then the car transforms into an Autobot and walks off, stopping everyone dead in their tracks. ;)

I'd like to see a scene where Bumblebee is talking to someone and a VW Bug drives by and he does a double-take.

Still can't believe they wouldn't let them use the bug in the movie. It's free bloody advertising, dangit!

We've touched upon this subject before. VW suits simply do not want their cars involved in any violent films that may depict battles and/or wars. Something to do with their past association with the Nazis.
