It would just allow a sonic version of darkvision out to the range that isn't affected by the Darkness spells.

Your eyes convert sound to light: you can see sound even indarkness, as long as some noise is present to give object shape. You are "blinded" in complete silence. You range of sight does not change...."

Sounds like blindsight.

There are a few different types of blindsight. They are based on: keen hearing, sensitivity to vibrations, etc. This would bestow the "keen hearing" version of Blindsight in the sense that illusions without an audible glamer (like mirror image) would be completely useless to a psion with this power.

Alright. Thanks all, I just wanted to be armed with some good arguements when I present this to my DM. I'll go with the "keen hearing" Blindsight angle... Even if it is limited to say 60' that is more than enough to deal with most tactical situations... Hmmmm, still under my charge distance though, eh deal with that if it comes up...
