Seeing a lot of similar settings

Well, considering that d20 Modern is well, Modern, I'm not sure why you would expect historical or SF games made with it.

You'd have to alter it to accomadate other settings, at which point you've lost the whole reason for using d20 Modern in the first place. Might as well use the regular d20 rules, and appeal to a larger fan base.

I'm actually curious as to how many people own the d20 Modern rules. I know I don't, which keeps me from buying any d20 Modern supplement.

If you owned the game, you might understand why (and seeing as you don't, I can understand that you're not interested in buying supplements for it; kinda goes hand in hand...). If WotC thinks it can do pulp, mecha, and planetary romance, then why shouldn't third-party companies? And not to mention d20 Future has been advertized as and extension of the d20M core rules.

d20M is probably closer to a "generic" game than regular d20, so I think it makes a good starting point for genre/setting expansion.

I'm just noticing a possible trend, and enjoying the posts that have shown me wrong by example. :) d20M is a great ruleset, and I'm always happy to see more products come out for it.

I didn't mention Spycraft because, well, it's not d20M. :)

Then again, neither are most of the Polyhedron Minigames. They're sort of a D20 Fantasy/D20 Modern hybrid, often introducing their own rules that weren't implemented in D20 Modern.

The ones that specifically extend the d20M ruleset state so pretty plainly, and are generally additive rather than modifying. Spycraft is a wholly separate game, and has nothing to do with d20M.

That is, until they revise the mini-game to d20 Modern ruleset, such as PULP HEROES. Those early mini-games during the early launch of Poly magazine, showed the early forms of the d20 Modern ruleset but still subject to change.
