Experienced GM seeking players of any skill level (novices welcome) to supplement an existing D&D3.5e game set in Privateer Press' Iron Kingdoms.
Our group meets biweekly, on the weekends, in the late afternoon-evenings in North Austin (I usually host). We are located conveniently on a Capital Metro Transit route, in a safe neighborhood.
About us: We are a mature (30's) group (read: we have lives); smoker-tolerant (read: smoke breaks outside); clean-cut (read: no "gamer stench"); family-friendly (read: some of our group is female); and social (read: we do things together outside of gaming). It should go w/o saying, but we are a "zero tolerance" group regarding drugs and other illegal activity.
About you: You don't have to be in your 30's, but please be mature (for your age); you must be past the "look - a girl!" phase of gaming; you should shower regularly; you should be willing to meet for the purpose of pre-screening, in a non-gaming atmosphere; you should have a form of transportation; you should not have any outstanding warrants; you should have a sense of humor and an easygoing manner (read: no rules lawyers/munchkins/power gamers); you must be willing to pay homage to the felines which are kind enough to let us use their home; and finally, you should not be adverse to the concept of house rules, campaign customization, and the IK setting in general. Did I mention that you should shower regularly? We aren't necessarily needing players; we're just curious as to who is interested, and we'll go from there.
The average level of the current party composition is 7-9th. Our campaign has its own members-only Yahoo! site. The current campaign, just now coming off hiatus, has been ongoing for over a year.
The Iron Kingdoms is a "full metal fantasy" setting which is on the verge of an industrial revolution. Steamworks are cheaper than pure magic, and are thus beginning to overshadow it. Its the twilight of the elves, barbarians are nearly extinct, and the domestication/civilization of humanoids has begun. The kingdom of Cygnar is beset upon all sides by hostile powers, existing in an uneasy truce. Ancient Orgoth ruins beckon to reveal their dark secrets. There are no Gnomes, Drow, or Chromatic/Gem/Metallic dragons. Instead, we have Grymkin, Nyss (winter elves), and the IK's own take on dragons. There are races like Gobbers, Ogrun, and Trollkin, and classes like the Arcane Mechanik, the Gun Mage, and the Trollkin Fellcaller. Tired of keeping track of hundreds of deities? IK has 6, and they have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Need a reason to play a human? IK gives you 12! Not keen on "Magic Marts" & "Ressurecto-Mats" on every corner? In IK, when you die, odds are you ain't coming back. Need a magic item? To lazy to go out and find one yourself? You'd better know the right people, and have lots of chink, 'cause they're not cheap. Ah, I could go on and on, but why? To know IK is to love IK. And if you absolutely have to have Drow, you could always wait for that cheap imitation IK-wannabe Eberron.
