Sell me on Dawning Star

Sorry to hear HR will be delayed! Currently running a weekly Dawning Star game for my group and they're excited about heading into space-based adventures in the higher levels. Currently they're part of an air cargo lifter crew and hoping to upgrade some day! So in the near future I may be in a bit of a sore spot without HR. ;)

All my players absolutely loved the HR preview (and were tickled pink after discovering the ship in Steel End had the same name as their air cargo lifter - Liberty!) and are really excited about the setting. Hmmm by chance is there still any need for ready and willing play-testers at all? I have the feeling my players would absolutely hit the ceiling if they got to be guinea pigs lol.

Colonelpuddinhead, for what it is worth, I live in Canada as well. Book took a week from ordering to arrival. Brian K

Brian,

Thanks. I sent my order to IPR today. Really looking forward to getting it.

Justin,

I have to say, after doing some investigation on the 'net, nobody's saying anything bad about your product - in fact its all good. If Dawning Star turns out as good as the hype (and I'm sure it will), my bet is your going to be the next Green Ronin (or even better). Also, don't let people rush you for product. Excellent product 2 months late is better than merely good product 2 weeks late, and tons better than mediocre work rushed to be released on time. Do it right, and people will come. I've waited this long to get my hands on a copy of DS, I can wait for HR and whatever else appears on the horizon.

In fact, yes. Drop me an e-mail to justin[at]bluedevilgames[dot]com

It took forever, but I finally got my paws on a copy of Dawning Star.

All I can say is: Wow. I am impressed by the thorough detail of the material, the interesting yet plausible story background (I especially liked the whole scattereing of the seven tribes thing of Eurasian mythology) and of course all the crunchy bits too - more talents, cool feats and cool classes.

I feel as though I have spent my money wisely and would have felt the same if I had paid the full-price, non-sales prices.

Kudos to all at Blue Devil! BTW Dustin, how can I get my hands on one of those PDFs now?

Justin gave me a copy at Gen Con. I was very interested and he was quite generous in giving it to me. I was so surprised that I completely forgot to look for a print copy of Poisoncraft (which was something I was planning to pick up from him). While I haven't read through all of DS, what I have read is well thought out and impressive. Excellent book...

He sold his last print copy of Poisoncraft at Gen Con. People need to twist his arm into printing more. ;)

That said, I got a chance to look at Dawning Star a bit while helping at the booth. I'm definitely getting a print copy.

We'll be starting a game of Dawning Star in late September. The only point I have to offer in support of it is that it reminds me of Firefly / Serenity. In my mind, that's a strong endorsement.
