Sell Your Sole

For some reason this reminds me of an old thread form the WotC boards going on about them needing to make a D&D cereal. It was more or less concluded that it would need a D&D mini prize inside, a map tile on the back, have little cereal PCs and monsters plus marshmallow dice (so it would have both crunch and fluff).

This I would buy! Especially if by D&D mini prize you mean an actual D&D Miniature.

The shoes OTOH would have their pros and cons:

Pro - You probably wouldn't have to worry about someone mugging you for your shoes.

Con - You might find yourself stuffed into a locker more often.

Although the designs vary, many of the M:TG designs would look right at home in a skate shop or at a punk rock show.

With so many classic images to choose from (for either D&D or MTG), it seems a shame to only produce a single shoe design at the end of the contest.

And where I grew up being a skater or punker meant nobody who would rob you for your shoes wanted to steal what you were wearing. And, if you were lucky, they at best thought you were crazy* and more often put you in the locker next to the chess geek.

I wore some rather funky Vans ripoffs back in the day, but most of the M:TG designs I saw I wouldn't wear. Of course, my taste in shoes nowadays is more functional, so maybe I'm kidding myself over the fact that I wouldn't have bought these 15-20 years ago.

*I had a reputation (unknown to myself until school was over) as the guy people thought would snap and kill everyone one day.

In high school my skateboard shoes were either Chuck Taylors or Vans. Later I wore Etnies or DC. Then skateboarding (actually crashing) became to painful so now I do mostly old man sports.

If WotC is seriously going into the fashion business, perhaps they should look into the following products which would be useful at gaming tables everywhere:
1. Suspenders of Disbelief
2. Scents of Wonder
3. Verisimili-Tube Socks
Have any more of those? Verisimili-Tube Socks made me spit my drink a little.

So, was it well-deserved? :p

I was kind of shocked when someone told me. I asked why and they said I constantly looked like I was ready to kill someone. I explained that was because I was at school and would rather be just about anywhere else. I always thought everyone pretty much liked me, maybe they were scared instead. :heh:

Although I do sympathize with the main character in Falling Down....
