thanks.

i spoke to her today and she said she already went and had the coins appraised and apparently they're not worth all that much. not sure what she's going to do now. i'll let you know when i know more!

I would be suspicious of "not worth much", especially if the same person offered to take it off her hands. She might want to get a second opinion to verify the value.

Boz,
Last year I helped my mom sell some coins after my dad passed away. It's hard to weigh the money vr. effort/time.

For my mom, the effort/time was more important. She didn't want to drag out the process. Of course she asked me to try to get top dollar for them, but she wasn't going to hold out for it.

If the coins have silver or gold content, you can sell them for the metal content at a gold and silver place, and those have set prices per ounce, so you really only have to rely on a correct determination of silver or gold content.

Best of luck

thanks, that's a good idea. i have no idea how old they are, so no idea how much precious metal they contain. i do know she said they were appraised as being not in mint condition. she thought they would be worth something like $6000, but they appraised for a lot less.

second opinion would be a good idea.
