Sembian Syndicates: A Forgotten Realms 3.5 PBEM
75% Roleplay/20% Combat/5% Puzzle
Yhaunn, port city of northern Sembia, also known as the City of Syndicates, is filled with rich merchant families, nefarious crime organizations, and political intrigue. Gangs, factions, and guilds all battle for turf, power, and above all else, wealth. Gold rules all in the City of Syndicates. Here, gold can buy you anything. From the opulent nobles’ homes along the bisecting Gaelon River, to the docks of the harbor on the Sea of Fallen Stars, from the slums of the south side, to the upscale merchant district of the north side, the City of Syndicates is never short of adventure.
I am going to be starting a play by email game in the next few weeks, and I am looking for five or six responsible, mature players. The game will be mainly a city-based adventure, but I will definitely incorporate wilderness and dungeon adventuring as well. I am hoping to send out two DM turns per week, so please respond only if you are willing to make that sort of commitment. Many games like this die due to lack of player and/or DM commitment, and I am hoping to avoid that. If you are interested, or have any questions about the game, feel free to email me at bhzippo@aol.com
Character creation:
D&D 3.5 Edition
2nd Level Characters, Max HP’s
1100 gp starting money
Use only the PHB and FRCS books to start with
All characters gain a free bonus feat, which replaces the regional feat in the FRCS
Good or Neutral characters only
82 stat points, 1 for 1 buy, then add racial modifiers
Along with your character, I would also like you to come up with a minor location that somehow ties into your character. It might be a tavern he or she hangs out in, a shop where he or she works, or a location your character has come to Yhaunn to visit for one reason or another. Be creative with the idea, and do not feel the need be elaborate about it. Just a short paragraph, the name of the place, its function, maybe a NPC will be fine. Not only will it help you feel part of the city, it will also generate adventure ideas for me to consider.
I will be running things through yahoogroups. Here is the address:
