Sending in a Sphere of Force?

I don't think this is possible, but can the Sending spell be used if the caster is inside a Sphere of Force?

In a related note, Wall of Force is a really powerful spell. I think there should be a few more end-arounds to counter its effects (like being able to contact someone magically). Any thoughts?

I don't think a sending would be blocked by a spherical wall of force. The only spell-blocking property of the force sphere is its prevention of line of effect, but sending clearly ignores line of effect, given that it can target creatures on another planes.

Sagiro is correct. The wall isn't antimagic, after all; it just blocks line of effect. Spells which don't require line of effect (like Sending, Teleport, Plane Shift, etc) are not stopped.

Let me guess: you've got a mage who likes using the hemispherical Wall of Force to trap enemies, since the spell offers neither save nor SR. Is that your problem?

If used to trap enemies, Wall of Force should allow a Reflex save at least. Otherwise, it becomes highly overpowered for 5th level. Compare to Forcecage, which is 2 levels higher and has an expensive material component.

Yep.

Might be tough to "sell" the Reflex save for something you can't see though.

You don't have to see an attack coming in order to get a save. Even someone who's both blinded and deafened still gets to make Reflex saves as normal.

And which (let's be fair) will trap burrowing and ethereal creatures, which wall of force will barely slow down.

Geez. I hate it when DMs do this. :D

(personal joke with Sagiro, nothing to see here, just move along. Grin.)

On a related note, can anyone tell me why sending is 5th level? So it lets you talk to someone on the other side of the world. Yay! A D&D equivalent of a mobile phone. Just doesn't seem that kickbutt to me.
