September 2008: What are you reading?

I started re-reading The Wheel of Time a little while ago. I'm currently on The Shadow Rising, with about 80 pages left to go.

I've only read each book once, starting back in 1991. I was going to wait until the last one was published and read them all but I figured I may as well start now.

My son and I are currently reading The Deathly Hollows; that way we have something to talk about when I get to have him over every other weekend.

On the side I'm also reading The Living Dead by Stephen King and Evilution by Shaun Jeffrey.

I'm currently re-reading (for the umpteenth time) the Thieves' World series of books. So far, I'm on book 3: Shadows of Sanctuary. I really love how they pulled off the anthology with multiple authors' characters intermingling and building a framework of connections and history that grows the setting which the story is placed in. Shadowspawn is still my favorite character, followed closely by Nikodemus.

I just started Anathem, Neal Stephenson's new book.

I'm also reading Watchmen (for the first time) and listening to the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince audiobook.

Almost done with Harlequin, the first part of Bernard Cornwell's Grail Quest Trilogy. Shows how dominant archers were, though the plot does rely on quite a few coincidences.
