September and Beyond up

Compared to previous "...and beyond" articles, the September and Beyond article is chock full of information. Lots of details for the Rules Compendium, Dragons of Eberron. Dungeon Survival Guide and Grand History of the Realms.

Plus we get an official look at the Gelatinous Cube mini!

I think that's just an ice cube, man. ;)

And, wow, the Dungeon Survival Guide is ... lame. Why do I want a picture of G2's cover and a tiny useless map? (As well as what I think is an apocryphal frost salamander retconned into the adventure.)

I was hoping for great fluff and cool (new) art inspired by classic modules.

I had this one on preorder before this preview. Next month's better dazzle me, or off it comes.

I too am a little underwhelmed by the gelatinous cube mini. I was hoping for more ooze like goodness. Still stoked they finally got around to making one though.

This picture doesn't really show off the real "oozy goodness" of the figure, the fact that you can put another figure inside it.

I don't think the picture does it justice.

First the cube comes completely off the base so you can put a medium mini inside.

Second the cube has a slightly iridescent coating on it to give it a bit of oozey shimmer.

We spent a long time trying to make this work. We tried a lot of different materials and it was very hard to get one that was durable, safe, "moldable", and that look good.

I think you'll like it

The cover is wrong that was a really old prototype. I'll see to it getting corrected

The interior is a mix of retrospectives of famous dungeons and modules as well a looks at things like dungeon terrain (walls, doors, floors, etc), traps, hazards, dungeoneering equipment etc.

I'm not seeing how the Rules Compendium is going to stop you from taking a lot of books to the table. To me it looks like it just explains, errata and clarifies a lot of rules.

Cool. My first thought, on seeing that figure, was "where are the bits of dissolving adventurer?" Now I know - it just hasn't eaten in a while!

As for the rest of the column - I thought it was a good column. However, it did nothing to change my buying plans - my last two 3.5 purchases will be "Fortress of the Yuan-ti" and the "Rules Compendium". That hasn't changed.

Me neither, for all the reasons Scott stated.

Plus, it's a mini you can use for jell-o shots. Or, of course, you can just have your party set upon by a band of vicious jell-o shots...
