[September] What are you reading?

Just read the latest Vorkosigan novel - the e-arc is available now, though the print version won't be out til Nov. 1.

"Captain Vorpatril's Alliance" was great - it made me laugh out loud numerous times, and the final chapters - The Sinking - were GREAT.

If you've never read Bujold, you need to! If you've not really liked the last two (Diplomatic Immunity was poor, and Cryoburn had laggy moments) give this one a try... it might be the last one, though I'm not certain of that; and it is certainly a fine addition to the series.

A collection of Jack Vance short stories, the current one being "The Moon Moth". I love reading him for his vocabulary and world building. He must be an interesting man in which to share a drink.

Trying to read Fletch, by Gregory MacDonald. I started it a few months ago and put it down; I've picked it back up and it's starting to catch me a little bit. Also reading The Beastly Bride, an anthology from Ellen Datlow & Terri Windling.

I just finished The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, which both depressed and uplifted me at the same time, and now I'm starting Cloud Atlas (just because the movie trailer looked so interesting!).

I finished "Atonement", which I found quite satisfying. Still haven't started on "Master and Commander", though - instead, I re-read "Pyramids" by Terry Pratchett, and am now just finishing up "Prince of Wolves" by Dave Gross.

I'm rather ejoying the latter, despite my misgivings about game-fiction. That said, I almost screamed when he started talking about the "basic tenants" of the Pathfinder Society (and then repeated the mistake, so it wasn't just a typo)!

But "Master and Commander" really is next!
