Have you watched it again on DVD, all of the episodes, in order?

Initially I wasn't terribly fond of it myself but as the series went on it grew on me. Once I got the DVD set and watched all of the episodes in order it really hit home just how good it is, and I'd much rather have an ongoing television series than a number of movies.
I loved it from the start, but I do agree. The show was perfect for TV. I'm sure the movie will be good but getting 22 eps of that a year would have been a real treat. I believe Monte Cook reviewed the boxed set a little while back and made some very good points about the TV format and how well the show used it. I agreed with that viewpoint completely.

Being able to watch the characters grow and change week to week (especially Jayne & River) was something I was really looking forward to. If there is a God, the movie will do well enough to get the series back on TV... :)

I'm glad you're revisiting Firefly, Mark. I'd definitely borrow the DVD set from someone and watch it as Whedon intended it to be shown. I never saw the show on TV, but having read the notes on how it was presented, I can understand how it failed to impress. Watch it on DVD, and you'll get hooked.

Personally I have high hopes for Serenity (it and Hitchhiker's Guide are the only two genre films that actually interest me this year...take that back, I nearly forgot about The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe!), but am a bit nervous about how well Joss will handle the translation to the big screen.

Like the rest of the episodes, I shall be giving a pass to the movie.

Wouldn't be a proper thread without Wombat expressing his dislike for whatever the topic is now would it? ;)
