Heh. I'd not allow voluntarily failing your save against an illusion, if you know it is an illusion. If you do not know, you just make the save as normal.

Idunno, I think it makes perfect sense for an illusionist to trust in his magic. As for his friends, well its not too much of a stretch for them to start to notice some discrepencies (getting a will save for interaction) and then realizing that it doesn't matter and said illusion is beneficial anyway and putting it out of mind or deciding to trust in it (voluntarily failing save).

Ps. Maybe you can only stone shape it if you fail your will save? ;)

Thanks for the replies, it's certainly not completely obvious how to figure some of the weirder effects (like the chest :D).

Also, I forgot one question...

6) Summon Undead is an [EVIL] spell. Does that make a shadow conjured mimickry also [EVIL]?

With Greater Shadow Evocation via Summon Undead V my Sorceress (at 14th level now; caster level is 16th) can "rapid summon" four 17-HD huge cloud giant skeletons (with the errata'ed version), which are at least 60% effective. That sounds pretty good! :D

Did they fix this since Libris Mortis? Last time I checked, this was a really broken spell...Summon Undead, I mean, not Shadow Conjuration.

The "object always save" clause can be a bit ambiguous as well.

For example, a Shadow Summoned Creature has lower AC against someone who recognizes it as shadow. But, it does not have lower AC against the sword or arrow a character who does not recognize it as shadow is using. The object (i.e. weapon) does not auto-save in this case, it auto-saves in the will save portion of shadowy damaging spells. It also does not auto-save the reflex save (for example) against a shadowy Fireball (if it had to make such a save).

So, a non-magical unattended object would take 60% (auto-will save, auto-reflex fail) of the damage (modified by fire vs. hardness rules, etc.) against a Greater Shadow Fireball.

A magical unattended object would take 60% of the damage against a Greater Shadow Fireball if it failed its reflex save, 30% if it made its reflex save.

They actually fixed it long before Libris Mortis, in the errata for PGtF, where the spell was first reintroduced into 3.5. ;)

But the writers of Libris Mortis had no clue about that, it seemed (and no clue about the changes to skeletons/zombies in 3.5 and the effect on that spell either). Sometimes you really wonder how they manage to miss such things. :p
