Shadow of Yesterday: Have You Played It?

I know I'm probably a little late on the uptake, but I just discovered the free game "Shadow of Yesterday" by Clinton R. Nixon. After reading it, I'm quite impressed.

I was introduced into the world of tabletop roleplaying games with D&D 4e. Many people say that 4e lacks roleplaying, and while I don't think so, I do agree that it's focus is the tactical combat. I love that, but I also love how the Shadow of Yesterday seems to facilitate storytelling without being at all complicated.

I'd like to hear anyone's experience with the Shadow of Yesterday. Did you have fun playing it? What are some common problems with the system? Is it better on paper than in actual play? I'm especially interested in seeing how it works when you use those rules in a medieval fantasy setting, like D&D. Has anyone tried that? Better yet...has anyone tried playing D&D (any edition) using rules (particularly the keys) inspired from the Shadow of Yesterday, or at least would be interested in such a game?

It's a fine game. I never GMed it, but the guys who did always told me how easy it is to make an adventure from the characters' keys.

Personally I really liked Bringing Down the Pain.
