Shadows

Shadows all around me...so the letters even say...

Shadows spill like ink over the page
Hiding words no longer seen beneath
And blotting out what was said or meant.
Darkness spreading over a pool,
Over the still warm waters
Wishing for the moon
Still hoping for some reflection
And finding nothing but the
Lack of light that says the moon is dead.
Like all the rest. Don't say it.
And always the voices in and out
Rambling unreasoned warnings
Over and over, while the repetition
Unties the meanings of the words,
Noises now and nothing more.
Death too near and still too far.
Make the shadows darker,
Everything to black.

shadows are in me...

Shards of crystal cut though skin that
Has no protection any more,
As each one slices in
Don't deny the blood’s your own
Or try to claim that
What was known wasn’t.
So gather up the pieces
And hold them in your hands.
Regrets are futile, even if
Everything’s your fault.
If you’re in pain, you cause it by
Not letting go, and
Maybe it’s too late for that;
Everything's turned black.

Shadows only

So chalk up another one.
Hang another corpse on the gallows
And hope that someone else cuts him down.
Don't try it yourself.
Only makes the matter all the worse.
Whatever were you thinking?
Stop thinking and start acting as you are,
Over and again you've been told it,
No one should be as blind as you.
Light's not your thing, dear,
Your shadow is too black.
