Just read this.Shaman must maintain line of affect to spirit but not line of sight, how can this be ?
Our shaman is new to 4e but we had a quick look and also couldnt find any mention of what the spirits defences are, is is the same as the shaman ?
The Scenario was that he could not get in the gatehouse so he created the spirit in one of the rooms through an arrow slit in the gatehouse, then the spirit was attacking the guards.
We assumed the shaman cannot see what the spirits see's, but can the spirit convey what is see's telepathically and does it need line of sight to do that if it can.
When new events unfolded, ie, new monsters we assumed the spirit carried on with its instructions based on what it saw.
But it did get a bit confusing.
Shaman must maintain line of affect to spirit but not line of sight, how can this be ?
Cause you need to maintain effect and not stare at it?
Line of effect and line of sight aren't the same things. You can send your conjuration into total concealment just fine, it doesn't block your control beams or whatever you envision keeps it stable and active. But you can't plop it behind a forcefield, because you need to keep your control beams up. Or whatever you want to call it.
It's like a remote control car, you don't need to see it to make it go forward, but if the signal is blocked it doesn't go anywhere at all.
