Shapechange

Has Shapechange been errated? It seems open to abuse as written in the players handbook. I realize its a 9th level spell but using it you could turn into the Tarrasque whose abilites are all extraordinary (thus you would retain the use of those abilities under Shapechange). I know polymorph self was errated a couple times but could not recall any revisions to Shapechange. Does anyone else think this is too open to abuse as written?

In order to turn into something, you have to know it exists. You'd also have to have a pretty good idea of what it looked like. So, if you've encountered a Tarrasque in the past, then yes, you can become one. It is up to the DM to determines when a character has enough knowledge about something to become one.
