Shatter spell

I feel so sorry... I got this nice beer ad movie here where the dude licks the beer from the table and his girly pours beer everywhere to clean the flat and ... ah well. Too bad I can't attach here more than 1MB...

I'll buy magical bottles next time. And magical wall papers for my flat. The barbarian can hack through the wall, but the WALLPAPER will stop him! :D

Magical wall paper? Makes me think of those japanese screen walls. Hmmmm

A whole japanese house with the screen walls being magical, both for durability and since only MAGIC can sunder a MAGICAL item. The only thing the house really needs to worry about is fire from the non magical side of life. hehehe

Shatter will work on the support beams and foundation though, unless... hallow was used for the foundation. Hmmm Now this gets interesting... -scribbles some notes down for magical wallpaper-

Firstly, that only applies to weapons and shields.

Secondly, it arguably doesn't apply at all in 3.5, depending on whether one chooses to eliminate the inconsistent passage from the DMG based on the Sage's suggestion that it's an accidental holdover from 3E that should be superceded by the new passage in the PHB.

Also remember that magical weapons and armor can be rendered temporarily nonmagical (and thus vulnerable to Shatter) by the application of Dispel Magic. This particular tactic doesn't work all that well, 'cause I find that people are able to buff their saves way too easily, but it's great when it does.

The text seems to infer that objects are automatically shattered with no save

Only nonmagical objects of crystal, glass, ceramic, or porcelain are shattered. Other objects are just "broken" or "sundered" (which sounds a whole lot easier to mend).

This always seemed like a much better option than Knock.
