Well instead of doing d6s you do d4s and can destroy part of the area. It's more versatile, but otherwise it seems to be okay.

I meant if it's read as crumbling 6'' of floor, walls and roof within the area.
Certainly not the (direct) damage to living creatures. That isn't overpowered.
 


BTW, I'd say stairs get destroyed most of the time if within the area of effect - stairs have "floor" space on them, plus the support for the base of the stairs would be weakened.

I envision it as a sonic burst, with an accompanying sonic "ripple" on the floor, radiating from the center of the area of effect (like when the helicopter hits the building in The Matrix).
