Shouldn't it be called Cottage Pie then?..... at least in recipies I had growing up that's what it sounds like.

I think the sheep effectively makes it Shepard's something... like Shepard's Stew or Shepard's Soup... but - *shrugs* I don't name the dishes... we should call the cook at Union Street!

I can honestly say I didn't think I would be reading a debate of which is dumber Cows or Sheep when I woke up this morning

Shepherd’s Pie or Cottage Pie

In a land where sheep were traditionally a primary food supply, it is not surprising that lamb is the foundation for many traditional farmhouse dishes. Below is the recipe for "Shepherd's Pie". You may substitute ground beef for lamb if you like - but then the dish is known as "Cottage Pie".

I think cattle are (or at least have the capability to be) *meaner,* but sheep are definitely dumber.

The shepard's pie was great! i give it 9 out of 10 giant balls of fusion.
