I would allow it, since the shield spell creates a "mobile disk of force" and the see invisible spell lets you see invisible objects and creatures as if they were normally visible.

Possibly. If you had a spellcaster with this spell on flanked then you could tell wether he had the shield facing you or your ally.

You (and possibly your allies) would know which way an enemy's shield was facing. Useful information both for Magic Missile, (ranged) touch spells and physical attacks.

But was the disk visible in the first place? How could you see the invisible disk when there wasn't anything there to begin with? Sure, the see invisible spell lets you see invisible objects and creatures as if they were normally visible, but those creatures and objects have a visible form. It never says that the shield even has a visibile form, so I don't think I'd let the see invisible spell do anything.

Hmpf. It's an invisible disc of force. After all we can see magic missiles, can't we? And those thingies are closely related to the shield spell. So why shouldn't we see the shield with see invis?

What I did: I allowed archers called shots at the legs at a +4 instead of the +7 against the usual shield spell if they saw the disc.

Btw: Are you sure that a shield spell has to be directed into the direction where the magic missiles come from to counter them? I don't think so (as per the writing in our holy bible PHB).

If I am wrong, then it's just another reason for me to skip that silly magic missile spell... ALERT!

Not really. A shield spell creates a disk and a magic missile spell creates a missile. Also, the disk created by the shield spell simply doesn't have an appearance, whereas the missiles do.

Doesn't matter. The spell let's you see it as if it were visible.

See invisible let's you see an invisible stalker, which has no visible form normally. If the invisible disk has no visible form, how do we know it's a disk? Seems to me that a disk is a form. It may not be normally visible, but that's what see invisible is for, to see invisible things.

OK. But the invisible stalker actually has a form that can be seen with see invisibility (a faint cloud outline).

But a shield doesn't have a visible form at all. So what do you see?
