On the other hand maybe Frog God Games' Tome of Adventure Design might also be something for you. While it is anything but short (see this detailed review) and not that cheap, it helps you get ideas and work them into adventures similar to the d20 Toolbox and the bigger generic Ultimate Toolbox by Alderac, all of which go back to ye olde 1E DMG tables if you're familiar with them...

While this excellent gaming stuf for free list has a clear focus on OSR products, there are a few more generic gems in there:

650 Fantasy City Encounter Seeds & Hooks by Johnn Four is a free download on RPG Now.

Adventure Hooks, Nasty Surprises and Grudge Encounters is also a free preview product on RPGNow.

The Tower of the Mad Archmage downloads section has a focus on a Castle Greyhawk-like megadungeon, but there are also the "Madness of the Frogmen" Adventure and "OSR Challenge: 25 Adventure Seeds".


And last not least check out this Adventure Generator which is part of the massive Generator of Generators website: Chaotic Shiny Productions has a too many great free generators to list.

Thanks everyone for all your replies! Nice to have some sources. I must say that "Eureka: 501 Adventure Plots to Inspire Game Masters" is reeeaaallly good, I prefer to write my own adventures, but I want something to base em off to make them interesting. A cool plot theme, idea, or a cool strategy or trick required, etc. This book has a lot of good ideas and they are short enough to not drown you in details.

One of Gary Gygax's products for 3e was sort of like this - Hall of Many Panes.

Basically 50 different mini-adventures, generally from 1-4 pages.

Rite Publishing just released Adventure Quarterly magazine, which is a PDF download, but should be available as a POD print too. Currently priced at $9.99, it features short adventures by Adam Daigle, Tim Connors, Tim Hitchcock, Creighton Broadhurst, and Robert N. Emerson. I know of a short Kaidan adventure that will appear in issue 2 or 3.

So you have another source for cool short adventures with AQ!
