Short Sword of Quickness

A character of mine had this item from the 2nd edition rules. Does anyone have a good conversion for it in 3.5?

IIRC, that gave the weapon the ability to strike first in a round? i don't know if there's a "good" conversion per se in the new rules, but perhaps a +2 short sword of speed would do you well.

failing that, have the DM make up a weapon attribute that adds a bonus to your initiative (+4?) when using that weapon.
