Doesn’t it seem that those Copyright/Piracy threads usually end up being locked after lots of rancor?

:mad::mad::mad::mad:!

Who thinks they should be against the rules just like politics, religion & abusive slams?

Should be in Meta.

Don't see a problem with them, they are topical and relevant converstaions that relate to the gaming industry.

I don't know-- copyright threads are far more relevant to people here than most religion/politics.

I think Morrus had the right idea when he said that he was going to be watching the thread closely, with no tolerance for uncivil behavior. The threads are, more or less, necessary, as is an increased level in vigilance while dealing with them.

Eventually, we might reach a point where any new copyright thread gets closed and linked to the old ones, but I don't think it's quite that bad yet. Every forum has its recurring vitriol topics-- and I'd say one of ours is obviously copyright.

They are fine. They are easy enough to avoid reading if one has no interest in them. Certainly there is an occasional post that gets out of hand, but those can be dealt with if need be.

I think they are o.k. It heats up sometimes but I think they are worthwhile threads.
Most arguments heat up because some believe the licenses either have so little protection or too much restrictions.

That and the fact both have not been tested in the court of law yet.

If they bug you so much, and they always end in unproductive slugfests, then just ignore them.
