Should I get Scarred Lands: Ghelspad?

You parallel poster, you!

As I said on RPGnet:

I really liked the book.

But I would question its use outside of scarred lands unless you are strapped for nation ideas or want a cosmology similar to the scarred lands. It isn't as liberally peppered with rules material and adventure seeds as FR is.

If you have a thing for knightly orders/prestige classes, the appendix of the SLCS:G might be good for you.

Caveat: I am a fan.

Short Answer: YES!!!

Longer answer: Seriously, it depends on what you are looking to "yoink" for other campaigns. If you need city ideas, plot ideas, location ideas, political ideas then the answer is YES! If you are looking for new rules, new spells, new prestige classes (it does have a few of those latter), then this is not the supplement for you. Get Creature Collection, Relics & Rituals, Warrens of the Ratmen, or something like that. Just remember this is a campaign setting, so it has things in it that other campaign settings have... but it is superior, IMHO.

I'm enjoying the book as I've borrowed it from a friend. (Keep hoping that OgreCave or Open Game Exchange will get it for review.) I enjoy the variety of material but wish that there were more maps of all the cities. The Prestige Classes are nice an add another element of crunchyness to the book, but maps would've been better.

I think it is. :) But then I'm kind of biased.

This isn't what you'd called the most portable book, but I'm sure you could use the invocation ideas, a few of the hooks, and maybe the Pr-classes. Other than that, it's not FRCS...but in some ways that's GOOD.

get slcs

I picked it up last week and I admit, I like the setting. Besides, I'm planning on running a Scarred Lands campaign myself. And I can chop up some of my FR and Ravenloft books for additional feats, skills, spells and PR classes. I love it when you can look at one book and see stuff you want to add!!
In other words, get it and add what you want from the other settings.
