And I'd disagree with that, when you get down the bare bones of each system, there isn't that much difference, both use similar means of controlling their populations. Anyway, I agree this isn't the right place for a heated political discussion.
This whole alignment for nations question is one that has come up recently with something I've been working on. I'm currently co-writing the updated Birthright Campign Setting (at least the Atlas part of it). I was originally going to put in the alignment of each nation/realm as similar to what was done in the FRCS, but that didn't seem right for some reason. So what I ended up doing was just including the alignment of the nation's ruler. As the leader usually has the most influence on policy in that nation, then the rest of the government will usually follow his/her lead.
