Should White Wolf do a d20 Magazine?

I wouldn't mind seeing another d20 mag. Dragon hasn't been all that interesting lately.

I'ld prefer it if they did a magazine that covered more than just D20, the bulk could be D20, but I think folks should be encouraged to look beyond D20.

I think this is the year of multiple d20 magazines. Hopefully some or at least one of them survive.

Mongoose Game's one looks interesting.
I'm slightly biased towards the EN Player's Journal.
Gaming Frontiers I think is still struggling.

Is the one released through Fast Forward Entertainment still around?

I can really afford one magazine a month, and feel that there is good selection right now.

joking aside, this is something a few non-WotC companies should seriously consider. I haven't seen ENWorlds magazine yet, my LGS won't get any of them because they dont' think it would sell, and I don't have the money to subscribe to it.

IF a few of them could collaborate with each other, I think the market is getting to the point where a general d20 magazine + article or two of other games, like Buffy, Lord of the Rings, Hero, etc. would really take off.

Razuur makes a good point, but...

People can afford what they place value on. That's something that we've learned in healthcare when people say that they 'can't' afford health. They'll sure as heck go out and spend money rampantly on their hobbies though

Another good tip is to itemize your subscription as part of your business (or personal income). Up to $25 per item can be reported as a gift to an individual tax-free. That includes to yourself if the person doesn't actually keep the gift or if it never gets sent to the person (loss). Subscriptions and dues fall into a nice write-off category. Basically anything that you do in youf D&D hobby can be itemized and written off if you associate it with work in any way or borrow it to a friend as a promotion. Don't forget to save your reciepts.

I dunno.

I look at the magazines out there and nothing really grabs me. Dragon (I still miss THE Dragon) has maybe an article an issue of interest to me. Dungeon has had anything for me in years. I have seen multiple "All Systems" magazines (White Wolf, Different World, etc.) come and go, all of them dying due to being non-specific ("Gee, I only want articles on X").

The market is very fractured. Magazines have to be pretty specific to survive at the moment. Trying to capture part of the D20 market is going to be hard, given the strength and availability of Dragon and Dungeon, and if a company starts running a magazine featuring just the D20 material that company is putting out, that is splitting matters even further (little appeal outside of a very small group).

Remember, gamers are a very tiny market force. Keeping a magazine running on a regular basis is expensive and needs a fairly serious fan base.

I wish 'em luck, but I won't hold my breath.
