Showdown in the Forgotten Ruins

(OOC: All the walls are more-or-less the same, though the back walls are thicker, than the intervening maze walls, probably because they lead to solid crystal or rock. You can take 2 minutes and Take 20 to search)

Tandi thanks Scun for his use of the healing wand and stretches her muscles. Even though her wounds are healed, she still feels the soreness of straining with the strong creature. Part of her wanted a rematch.

When she hears Rhys asking about a secret passage, she sets to help him look for one.

Tandi will assist (Aid Another) with the Search.

(OOC: Okay, looks like people are okay with sitting around for 2 minutes per square (though we have so many people, we can just say you get them all in two minutes)

*After searching the wall, the group doesn't find any secret passages--that isn't really surprising, though--this area is a warren of crystalline passageways, like a maze, so there must be a goodly number of dead-ends. The dead body means that the creature probably found this unwary traveler before the traveler found the true exit. Meliana does not sense the creature's direct approach, at least yet. It seems to be stalking from a distance and waiting for the right time to strike.*

looks like we backtrack then. Meliana please let me know when I may become a practice dummy for this creature. Does anyone have a spell of some sort to trap it once it attacks?

"There is something not right about that creature...I would suggest using targeted effects on it, in any case. They should be more likely to succeed. Given the chance, I could assault its mind."

"That won't stop it, though. I wonder why the Ancient Ones set this creature here to be a guardian. Does it mean that no others have..."

"No, there are clear psychic imprints of tampering. It must have avoided the creature, either that or it restores itself some time after the defeat."

"Perhaps, but then before, she..."

"I believe the possessing symbiont must have had a hand in that. Hush now, we will discover the answer shortly."

"Hurr, I don't be knowin about all that mind stuff, but durned if that isn't a body of one that come before, eh? Mayhap there be clues about?" Thurgan suggests.

Eskon looks down the hallway, doing his best to fight off the fear that seizes his heart.

"This thing seems resistant to any means we have to hurt it. Meanwhile, it is mangling us. Taking its time in enjoyment of the hunt. I cannot think of a way to vanquish it. Surely nothing I have at my disposal."

"That's why I've been trying to get it to hold still long enough for you to land those hits." Tandi sighs. "Nonetheless, staying in one place only makes it easier for it to catch us off guard. We should get moving if there's nothing left here." Wonder of we should try talking to it, Tandi thinks to herself.

Scun's graveled voice breaks the air for a short time. "We need to catch IT off guard, or take it out of it's environment somehow. Get tricky!"

"I do not know that we can ambush it, per se, but I assume that it will not expect us to know the timing and positioning of its next attack in advance. At the least, we will not be surprised this time," Meliana offers

"Hrmm, well, I dun know much about that stuff, lads, but I'm still thinkin' we should check the body afore we head off. But if not, well, I'm just an' old dwarf, and I'm not gettin' any younger, so let's get going ta the next place," Thurgan offers.
