Eskon steps forward.

"I will. Then, we move on."

The young paladin pauses for a moment, closing his eyes in concentration. Then, he kneels down to search the corpse.

[sblock=OOC]Eskon will Detect Evil.[/sblock]

*Eskon does not detect evil. However, he manages to find a longsword, shield, and some very light chain shirt, as well as a pair of potions and a pouch with a bit of gold.*

"See, I though' maybe there'd be something there," Thurgan nods thoughtfully, "But there nay be any sorts of clues? Do we want to take these along?"

I say we bring the stuff with us, even though it did not seem to help the last owner.

*Having decided, the group grabs the gear and continues through the mazelike passages. Before long, Meliana signals and says quietly:*

"It's approaching rapidly from the left and above, probably to leap from that ledge up there. We could try to outrun it, but it seems pretty fast. Shall we shift our formation and prepare for an attack?"

(OOC: If you prepare for an attack, you can't ready actions or anything quite yet as you still must roll for initiative, but there will be no surprise round, so everyone will get to roll, and anyone who wins against the baddy can ready attacks or do whatever they wish)

"Interesting. Swords are not weapons of your people, are they Meliana?"

When asked about preparing for battle, Cade nods, "Yes, that is best."

OOC: I thought there was a distinct lack of swords among the people and there was a comment made at one point? Then again, I'm using a lance, which is like a a spear on steroids.

(OOC: Lasair brought it up many times in FoH, but that would be it, I think. No worries though--it isn't important. It's easy to get confused between GMing FoH and playing this game (especially since both games have a character named Meliana, though the one in FoH is a psicrystal), in fact, I may have been the one confused.

Let me know the new formation, remembering to face the stronger melee guys to the side with the enemy (just assume that side is 'left' for our purposes). The mazelike corridors have two squares of width)

Cade can potentialy sit a rank behind the other melee fighters. Rillian is probably our strongest fighter, not sure about where Eskon is. Scun is a good fighter, but as our only healer, might be better served not on the front line, or protecting the more vulnerable party members. I think Cade might be better served staying off Alton.
