Shrink wrapped Dark Sun

Sir Robilar

First Post
Recently I found an old FLGS that still has the first Dark Sun Campaign setting boxed set and is selling it in it's original shrink wrap for the release price from '91. Now I'm wondering if I should get it as a collector's item. I have no clue if it's worth anything though. Do you believe it will make me rich? ;)

Edit: Also, what sites do you use to find out if an old rpg product is a collector's item?

There were two 2e versions of the DarkSun campaign setting box set. The second coming out one year after the first.

Both are definitely more valuable shrinkwrapped than the original MSRP.

EDIT: Aceum, but 2e stuff won't be on there. Check Amazon for inflated prices and do an Ebay History search (1 month) for previously sold copies.

Just because it is shrink wrapped doesn't mean it is the original shrink wrap. Unless they've had it on their shelf for 20 years it could easily have been opened used and then someone just shrink wrapped it themselves.

Depending on how much the store wants for the box set it could be worth while to buy. Personally I wouldn't resell it as it was a very good gaming box set.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's the original wrap. The shop had loads of Dark Sun stuff all hidden in the back of the shop. Also there are dozens of other unused AD&D products. When standing in front it honestly looks exactly like back in the 90s. I know this shop doesn't buy stuff. So I am 95% sure it's still the original shrink wrap.

It turned out that the revised one seems to be get better prices while the un-revised box set is sold for 12$ at Amazon. Oh well, might still get it because it looks so nice.
