Signing up for The Draft

Americans:
Did you register with Selective Services when you turned 18?
Was it before or after the Gulf War of 1991?
Was it before or after the events of 9/11?
How did you feel about it?
Were world events at the time a factor in how you felt about it?

I turned 18 around 1980, and had no problem with registering. I remember being indifferent about it.

However I have three children who are of that age now, and I absolutely do not want them to sign up.

Sorry, I didn't think I had and it certainly wasn't my intention. What I was trying to convey was more my upbringing of once you committed to something you stuck to it regardless of the circumstances, not a commentary on leadership styles or politics... again, I apologize.
