The original "Revenge of the Kobolds" is about a raiding party returning to their caves to find a party of "Heroes" once again slaughtering the tribe. (How are you supposed to make progress when you've had 6 chieftains in the last 9 months.) The rules also specify that there are traps in the lair, and you get bonus points for killing a "Hero" with a trap. The kobolds, of course, know where the traps are, and have X number of points to design and designate traps. One character is the "Trap Master," who can repair any traps the "Heroes" have already disabled.
The "Heroes" always take all the good stuff, so the tribe only has 1 metal sword and 1 suit of chainmail--both on the dead body of the chieftain. Everything else is either small or wooden/stone. Leather and hide armor is all that is available to start.

Yes, that metal restriction would have some deficits to certain classes--just means you'd start with non-standard weapons. Bit whoop.

After the first adventure, the party is free to visit the Minotaurium Emporium, a merchant store that caters to all customers, regardless of alignment, race, or political affiliation. And if you can find a better price on comparable goods, ME will match it! (Thank you Deerstalker Productions).

Kobold Sith? Well, you could play any variety of psionic class and worship any deity you like that doesn't violate your programming.

"Revenge of the Kobolds" was originally a 4E book. The publishers did a 5E conversion.
If I were running, yes, I still run 4th, because I like it and it would make all the other conversions so very much easier.
