I think the allure lies in the fact that PCs and GMs will have accessible rules that help the mechanics better match up with the roleplaying, rather than hindering it. All sorts of mechanics are presented to cover how to incorporate people in touch with (or at odds with) certain kinds of emotions. If you've ever thought that there is more to ability than just aptitude and hard work, this might provide some added dimensions to character traits and emotions. Sometimes, emotions can play as big as factor as skill or study.

As for what is cool or neat about emotions, well, we feel that it's an unexplored area of character ability. As mentioned above, emotions can play as big a role as anything else in success, failure, and perception. We hope these mechanics will add depth to this relatively unexplored area of d20 gaming.
