Silver Age Sentinels, any thoughts?

I just flip through Silver Age Sentinels d20 yesterday. It looked pretty good. Pricey, but it had good production values.

Has anyone read or played this game?

Which d20 Superhereo game is the "one" to get?

As for what supes d20 games is the one to get- I am waiting for them all to be out before I make the decision.

Indeed. Buying d20 game only guarantees you only so much. The impetus on the designer to only make the changes necessary and expedient to convey the feel of the game and thus retain that familiarity and compatability d20 gamers will be looking for.

The sentiment expressed by many (myself included) in the thread over on the publisher board is that d20 SAS uses its license too liberally, and there is almost no benefit from the customer standpoint of buying the d20 version over the Tri-Stat version. You don't have the same familiarity or cross compatability. It's a d20 system game in name only.

The one everyone seems to be waiting for is Mutants & Masterminds. But some fear it falls too far from the tree to maintain the familiarity and compatability that d20 players hope for as well. (shrug). But Squirrel Nutkin seems to think it's the bomb.

If you are looking for a "standard" d20 superhero game then I suggest you look at Deeds Not Words, Vigilance, or 4C2F. All of them can be bought from RPG.net.

If you are looking for something d20ish, then go with SAS d20 or the upcoming M&M.

If you are looking for something different, then go with Champions or SAS Tri-Stat. Champions is the foundation most of these other games have been built upon. I would describe SAS Tri-Stat as a cross between Champions and the old Marvel Superheroes game.

SAS rocks!

Hi-
First of all I should let you know I am a big fan of Big Eyes, Small Mouth from Guardians of Order, with that said, I like SAS d20, granted this game has no feats per say which has been a bone of contention on the d20 publishers board. Stand alone wise SAS kicks butt, jerry rigging it to d20 Star Wars or CoC really aint that hard, in SAS you get power points at certain levels to purchase new abilities, increase Ranks and so on, this can easily be interchanged with gaining a feat from say CoC or Star Wars instead of taking that power point increase. You can also look at the super abilities in SAS as perhaps bonus speciel abilities or feats them selves but it might be a pain as to how to work the rank system.
Just an Idea and personally, its most likely cheaper to purchase SAS then have to spend 30 bucks on ink to print out other TPM super hero games. Then again some might be able to steal from their school or work to thier copies printed(not very heroic IMHO)
