This is probably really dumb, but I have to ask.
Is a simulacra a "construct?" That is, does it get the Construct creature traits? I mean, a caster could pretty easily make a sim of himself and have a more than competent lab assistant, since the things are permanant. Given that it seems a wise idea to nail down what they are, and what they aren't. What they can do, and what they can't.
The impression that the spell gives me is that a simulacra is essentially a magically preserved construct of ice and snow (an ice/snow "golem" if you will) with a powerful and complicated shadow illusion that not only gives it the seeming of whoever it's supposed to be, but also a modicum of their power (similar to Shadow Conjuration, just on a different theme).
To that end, is the resulting "creature" considered to be a construct? I would ask the same of other things that are defined as "magical constructs." Like the barbarians from a Horn of Valhalla, or a knight buddy from the Deck of Many Things.
Is it a creature at all for that matter? Do spells that target "creatures" fail when targeting sims? Or is it considered a creature of the same type that it's emulating?
Does True Sight reveal the "ice golem" underneath?
Would a Scry spell be fooled by a sim? That is, if I have a sim of myself, and we're both active in different locations, and someone tries to scry on me...does he get me or my sim?
...I should probably email the Sage about it, but I thought I'd see what y'all thought first, on the off chance it's already been aired.
