Size, Hardness and Hit points

Does a weapon or other object, that is larger have more hardness or more hit points? It would seem that it ought to at the least more hit points, but arguements could be made for a higher hardness as well. Thanks all.

More hit points? Sure, since they are a function of thickness.
Hardness? I don't think so. Table 9–11 of the PHB has some examples.

Masonry wall (1 ft. thick; hardness 8; 90 hp)
Hewn stone (3 ft. thick; hardness 8; 540 hp)
Chain (hardness 10; 5 hp)
Iron door (2 in. thick; hardness 10; 60 hp)
