Skeleton Key Games Q.

JoeGKushner

While looking through Gaming Frontiers 2, I'm looking over this group of outcast orcs, Glimm's boys or something and it's pretty cool stuff but there seems to be nothing on the website about a release date or basic page count, format, etc... Any updates on that?

Orcs: Savage Legacy is a great orc book written by a few familiar names from this board, including: Joseph D. Carriker (SSS-Druid), Wil Upchurch (d20 Dwarf), Bret Boyd and Ben Mathiesen. It hasn't been officially announced yet because we don't want to make any promises we can't keep on a street date. SkeletonKey Games is on a tight budget at the moment and until we can deliver the best possible product, without cutting any corners, everyone will just have to sit tight. Rest assured, Orcs: Savage Legacy will see the light of day and it will change the way DMs and Players view orcs. There is plenty of cultural detail that is backed up with the crunchy stuff that we all love.

Thanks for your patience and I hope you enjoy the Gaming Frontiers article.

Special thanks to Joseph D. Carriker for coming through on short notice to take over the writing on the GF article when I couldn't seem to get it where I wanted it. SKG uses only the best freelancers :)

It was a good article and made me hungry for more. I'm probably going to use old Glimm and his boys to spark off some sort of civil war in Skraag as there are already three different sects of priests waging little holy warriors on their own there. Wait until they get a load of the real god eh?

I like the way it does the One Eyed King because it can be the official Orc god, or it can be something else. Clever.

Spectacular. :) Glad you liked the article. I thoroughly enjoyed working on it, too - there is something about religious fanaticism that intrigues me. Add to it the fact that in D&D, there is a tangible reward for that fanaticism (in the way of powers and spells), and it gets even better.

Indeed, one might wonder why we don't see more of it in the various settings. :)

A bit OT

This is a little bit off topic but I wanted to announce that Ed will be doing all of the maps for our upcoming release of Urban Blight as well as some illustrations. It was already written when we struck our deal or there would be some of his words in there as well. Ed is a fantastic, professional guy to work with.

Also, New comer Bret Boyd, won our BIG CONTEST and then went on to write a few more items for us for Urban Blight as well. The editor of UB (Charles Plemmons) noted Bret as being an extremely creative, accurate, and polished writer. I intend to keep him busy but he is great so get him to work for ya.

I know the excellent work of Joe and Wil (not sure if I have seen other stuff by Ben) , their material in GF II was top notch! Good job to all.

Geez, thanks for the name dropping! It's nice to be writing professionally for the hobby I love so much. Apparently my hard work is starting to pay off. :) Both Ed and Doug have been great to work with and I hope to continue with them and their great companies in the future.

As for Orcs: Savage Legacy, I am also eagerly awaiting its release and am honored to be within its pages along with so many other distinguished writers. I hope everyone enjoys this intense look at orcs that the race so desperately needs.

With Orcs: Savage Legacy, is there an estimation on how many pages it's going to be? A Table of Contents or anything of that nature? Any other upcoming previews say in Campaign Magazine? The more I mess with Orcs (I'm using the Himrak in my Karathis campaign) the more I'm looking forward to this product.

JGK - we aren't ready to give out a lot of information on this project at the moment. We will make any announcements right here at EN World when the time comes. Sorry to be so mysterious, we are just being cautious since there may be other orc material in development out there.

It should come in at about 48 pages, we have a bit more to write so it could grow.

One thing I can tell you is that one chapter will detail The Orcs of Black Tusk mentioned in The Forsaken of Glimm. The Black Tusk tribe will serve as an example of how to make orcs more than just fodder for PCs and use much of the new material presented in the book.

We will keep you posted.
