I'm a lot more interested in constructive feedback on THIS skill challenge than a philosophical debate from someone who dislikes skill challenges. If you don't like them, this one isn't going to change your mind.

It's not a general skill challenge issue, its just an issue with how the rules for this particular challenge are just rules: I can't think of an in-character explanation for why the party would do the challenge in the way it needs to be done, and that would really bug me if I were playing it.

Just to clarify: I think the concept and the rules for the challenge are great, and if the challenge went well, we might never find that particular restriction, so it would play out as tons of fun.
