Would you be interested in a psionics system using skills and feats?

The system would be balanced with Dungeons and Dragons in mind but useable with all d20 games.

The basics of the system are as follows:

Psychics do not have a list of know powers. Instead, they have "access" to all powers manifestable for their level. However, psionic powers are like skills and most cannot be used untrained.

The psion puts his points where he wants to, and must roll to initiate said power.

Multiple Ability Dependancy will be reduced to three scores:

Intelligence (Metacreation & Psychokinesis)
Wisdom (Clairsentience & Psychoportation)
Charisma (Telepathy & Psychometabolism)

The powers scale.

Instead of Lesser Concussion, Concussion & Greater Concussion, there is simply a power called Concussion that can be manifested at different levels. (Much like the Wheel of Time system)

Psychic Combat is no more. Instead their are a series of powers under the Telepathy discipline called Mental Assault.

Salutations,

hmm, I would have to look it over.

The competition, in my thoughts, would be two things:

1) Mindscapes - from Malhavoc, the description sounds interesting and they are offering a new psi-combat system.

2) The Spycraft skill/feat psi-system. I have been really impressed with this and would like to see a more robust fantasy equivalent designed from its foundation.

But, I would look over the product you describe- since there is no sign of #2 happening.

COC has a system that is skill & feat related. Also Ken Hood (who also does the grim n gritty alternate rules) has a very detailed skill & feat psionics system.

SFA has a really good skills and feats system IMO, though they are class dependant. So I think it can work.

But do we really need it? No, I don't think so, especially not for D&D. The Psionics Handbook is well balanced againt the other aspects of D&D as it is, and is well supported with great products like If Thoughts Could Kill, Of Sound Mind, the Psionics Toolkit, and the upcoming Mindscapes, not to mention on-web material. Such a system would really have to knock my socks of to hold a candle to that.

SFA, meaning Shadowforce Archer, right?

It is very class dependant, but iirc- there was a general feat anyone could take that would give them the equiv of 1 level of psion- so they could have access to some of the psionic goodness.

Perhaps I did not read it close enough or my shoddy memory is really letting me down, heh.
