Skirmishing Warlord

I was wondering how the would deal with the fact that ranged weapons (especially bows) are associated with Dexterity, which is not outlined as a relevant stat in the PHB's description for the Warlord. Well, seems they simply said use Strength instead of Dexterity. Meh. I would have liked them "breaking" that initial rule, and so making the Warlord more interesting for different races, too. An Elfen or Halfling Skirmisher Warlord for example could be interesting. It seems they are only willing to be that flexible for the secondary ability scores. (We saw that with the Bard already.)

That can be easily house ruled as a feature of Archer Warlord, where "You may use Dexterity instead of Strength for all Ranged Warlord Powers".

Now here's a question for you all:

Is the elven archer on the cover a Ranger or a Skirmishing Warlord?

Edit: That brings up another excellent question. If a Str/Wis Skirmishing Warlord multiclasses into Ranger, their stat build would actually push them to choosing Two-Weapon Fighting or Maurauding powers. Kobold Avenger, we need that house rule implemented stat.

Race the Arrow is a cool power.

I wrote that one (and also Risky Shot)!

Forgive me for geeking out; this'll be my first D&D book author credit, and I've been waiting impatiently for someone at Wizards to give the author list so that I can go boo-yah! Rob, Rich, and Eytan all had more impact on the ultimate shape of the book than I did (I didn't design any of the builds or class features, for example) but it was a thrill just to work with those guys.

Extremely cool! And I loved Race The Arrow!

BTW, now we can have a Fighter that is as good at range as he is in melee. Just make a fighter and multiclass into warlord for the "Ranged Strength" powers.

Fighters will no longer be miffed when facing a flying foe!
